Statement on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
BASIS Independent Bellevue respects and honors every individual and the many experiences that they bring to our community. We believe that embracing our diversity leads to social emotional and academic success. Our curriculum reflects the depth of our commitment to diverse, multicultural perspectives. We seek to understand the complex, rich identities of self and others, and our community aims to cultivate kindness, empathy, and respect in our students. Teaching about historical conflict is encouraged in an atmosphere that is both safe and honest, and we hope to equip students with the needed skills to have challenging conversations to move us all forward. We believe this pursuit develops individuals who will take action when confronted with injustice, preparing our students to be productive, resilient, contributing citizens in a global world.
